Mission Trip to Banica in the D.R.
Donation protected
I would like to share about an opportunity that I have to go on a mission trip with my school and ask for your prayers and donations to support this work. I will be traveling to Banica in the Dominican Republic, this coming June, immediatley following my high school graduation. I was lucky enough to be one of 25 students chosen from Paul Vi High School to take part in this misson trip.
The purpose of this trip is to help with a variety of projects for the people of Banica. Our main project will be laying down cement floors in homes that currently have dirt floors. This project creates more hygenic conditions (so babies aren't crawling around on dusty or muddy dirt floors); it also makes the home cooler, and finally it gives the family a more dignified place to live. We will be doing this project side-by-side with the local folks, so it will be a collaberative effort and not a hand-out. It amazes me that we will be able to help so many people with such a basic necessity of life that we all take for granted each day. Spiritually, I will be helping to deliver the message of Christ through our interaction with the local people. I truly believe in this mission with all of my heart and I am looking forward to both the spiritual and practical ways that I can help those in Banica.
Father O'Hare, a PVI Catholic HS graduate 90", is the pastor and runs the mission. You can learn more about Banica at www.banicamission.com
I am asking if you would be willing to support me. The total cost for the trip is $1700 per person going on the trip. This represents all expenses related to our travel and housing while there as well as the mission fees, and the cost of the construction materical and supplies to be used during the mission. If you are able to provide some support towards my mission, it would be very appreciated. I ask that you also please pray for me and my classmates as we prepare for this exciting chance to serve. Be assured of our prayers for you as well.
Thank you very much and God Bless You!
