I Lost my wife & daughter,help me save the rest of my family

Hello, my name is Alaa Matar.

I'm writing to you with a heart full of pain and desperation, A year ago, I tragically lost my beloved wife and my only daughter in Gaza during the intense Israeli bombardment that continues to devastate innocent lives.

I now live outside of Gaza, but my family—my elderly parents and younger siblings—remain trapped inside, struggling daily against hunger, thirst, and the constant threat of death. Our home was completely destroyed, and they’ve been forced to flee more than 10 times, seeking safety that never lasts.

They currently live in a fragile tent that offers no real shelter from:

• the blazing sun

• the cold nights

• the ongoing bombings

• the daily hunger

Displacement is both traumatic and expensive

Each time they’re forced to move, they must transport the tent and the few possessions they have left. Due to the severe lack of transportation, a single displacement can cost up to $1,000.

Gaza is suffering from a real famine

The prices of basic food items are unimaginably high:

• 1 kg of flour: $30

• 1 kg of sugar: $100

• 1 kg of lentils or beans: $25

• Cooking oil: $50

My parents are elderly and sick

They are nearly 70 years old, and both suffer from:

• Diabetes

• High blood pressure

• Severe malnutrition

Even when medicine is available, it is far too expensive and out of reach.

I have tried everything

For the past two years, I’ve done everything I could from abroad to support them. But now, I’ve exhausted every resource.

I have already lost my wife and daughter. My family in Gaza is all I have left.
