My name is Olivia Ohlson, and I am 13 years old and an eighth grader in Evanston, Illinois. I learned in wanting to help others during the current COVID time that many people need hygiene items like: tampons, pads, soap, tooth paste, tooth brushes, body wash, lotion, sun screen, razors, shaving cream, shampoo and conditioner and it's not often given out to those in need and can be expensive to buy when you have little or no money for those items.
So, I started, my Hygiene Kits for Evanston's Under Served project in early June of 2020. As of March 1, 2021 I’ve distributed just over 1,200 kits.
All money raised will go to purchasing
supplies that I pack into kits (I have three types: men, women, family/non-binary). Each kit is worth between $7-$20 of items. I then
distribute them at places like:
*Evanston Vineyard Church through their
drive up food pantry.
*My Block, My Hood, My City on the south side of Chicago
*Evanston-Skokie School District 65
*ETHS Alumni drive up food pantry
*Evanston Latinx walk up food pantry
*Connections for the Homeless a wonderful
local Evanston non-profit.
*Lincoln-Perry CHA Retirement Home-
through The Honeycomb Project a wonderfulChicago non-profit
I will continue to make and distribute these
kits as long as I can! Passing them out brings smiles to people's faces and I really like
running this project because it gives me a
purpose! Thank you for supporting my
project and helping people in need find a bit more comfort!
