Hygiene Kits for our neighbors in NYC!

We are raising funds to buy supplies for hygiene kits which will be donated to Coalition for the Homeless and Sylvia's Place to help our unhoused neighbors in NYC. Coalition for the Homeless is the nation's oldest advocacy group for men, women, and children experiencing homelessness; and Sylvia's Place is an emergency shelter for LGBTQ+ youth.
These hygiene kits will include: disposable face masks, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, razors, lotion, soap, shampoo/conditioner, alcohol-free mouthwash, deodorant, wipes, feminine hygiene products, shaving cream, first aid supplies, and chapstick.
Following Resisterhood LA's Hygiene Kit Build Guide, we are raising funds which we'll then use to purchase the items that go in the kits. Then, once all the items have arrived, we, along with a few others, will assemble the kits in ziploc bags, which we will then drop off with these organizations, who will then distribute them to folks in need within their networks. It's an in-kind donation but you don't have to do any of the work! This is a great way to get much-needed materials directly to the folks who need them.
Since we're buying in bulk – the more money we make, the more kits we can build, and the cheaper they get! If we make $1500, we can build ~235-240 kits at $6.17 per kit. If we make $2000, we can build ~375 kits at $5.45 per kit. If we make $3000, we can make over 600 kits at less than $5 per kit. Et cetera!!!!
**It is our personal goal to not purchase anything off of Amazon. We will be using other bulk-order sites like HD Supply and DollarDays. Our highest priority is getting much-needed goods to the folks who need them, but our second-highest priority is avoiding Amazon where we can JUST FYI!!!!!**
We have been so inspired by the work people are doing across the country to help our unhoused neighbors in the middle of a pandemic. We would like to do kit builds on a rolling basis when we have the ~bandwith~ and the volunteers so whatever funds are leftover from this round (if any) will go to the next one, or towards a future project like setting up a Friendly Fridge !! None of the funds will be for personal use – we will redistribute everything to the community!
