On Tuesday, April 27, my son, Ruben found out that his father had been found dead at home.  Ruben had limited contact with his father and he took the news as well as can be expected from a 9 year old. An hour later, his mom, Sara was mowing the lawn with the new riding mower, and offered Ruben a ride around the yard. At some point, he wanted to get off the mower, mom was trying to slow down and stop for him to get off, instead he fell off to the side and his right leg passed under the mower blades.

Ruben was taken by ambulance with lights and sirens to our local Mercy Hospital.  He was admitted to the pediatric burn unit and had surgery this morning at 630am. They were able to clean out the wound and confirm how lucky he is, in the fact that there was no broken bones, no ligament or tendons damaged.  The wound pretty much tore all the skin off of his right knee and most of his thigh. He will undergo a 2nd surgery in 2 days to begin skin grafting and the placement of a wound vac. This machine will allow the wound to heal from the inside out and eventually bring the skin edges together . He will require at least one more surgery for the skin grafting, in about 30 days.

Mom, Sara, is a single mom, registered nurse and helps care for her disabled mom and sister.  Im starting this gofundme in order to assist with expenses, co-pays and lost wages. I estimate she will he out of work for at least a month if not for many months. All help is appreciated, whether a donation, a prayer or a comment. I will try to post updates as they come.
