The world is experiencing a new reality. This is a strange and scary time. However, it's one where many folks have time to reflect, spend time with themselves, and try something new.
I'm going to be offering a virtual cooking class on Saturday, April 11th at 5pm CDT to raise money for a local non-profit that is very close to my heart.
Sustainable Food Center (SFC) had to cancel Farm to Plate, their annual fundraising event, for the first time in its 13-year history due to the COVID-19 crisis.
As long lines grow at grocery stores and demand for food in our community spikes, SFC's work is more critical than ever.
They are tirelessly advocating on behalf of growers to be sure locally grown food reaches those who need it most, including our neighbors who receive food assistance and may not be able to find what they need at overburdened grocery stores.
They are redoubling our food access efforts through Double Up Food Bucks and mailing seeds to their Spread the Harvest program participants to ensure broad access to healthy food for everyone in our community during this time of crisis.
However, the cancellation of their fundraising event this late in their fiscal year is having a severely negative impact on their ability to raise money for our vital services now.
I shop at SFC markets almost every week, I have been a volunteer there for the last 4 years, and I truly belive in the work they are doing.
I’m asking you to help them in this time of need by making a donation and participating in my virtual cooking class called Cooking for a Cause.
With your participation and donation, they can continue the critical support of farmers who are facing unbelievable challenges and low-income families who have been the most impacted by this pandemic.
We will be making Pasta and Tomato Sauce (Vegan options available).
This class will be about how to make a Faust favorite tomato sauce, not homemade pasta.
Please make a minimum of a $10 donation and I will send out the ingredient list for Saturday, April 11th's virtual cooking class.
