SCOTTS HEAD SKATE PARK. Can you contribute $$?
Donation protected
Exciting news Scotts Head.
After 20 years it is happening... Nambucca Valley Council has allocated 200K in their budget to gain a 50:50 grant to build us a skate park.
If we can raise another 50K by Monday 21 July 9am, we can up the style and quality of our skatepark, to what has been recommended by local skate community members, as well as expert consultants. (ie. build a 500sqm Skate Park which will cost 500K - approx.)
We have already gained a financial commitment from some local businesses and organisations, but would like to give community members an opportunity to contribute.
So if this is something you have been waiting for... please contribute whatever you can.
SH Community Group will bank these funds, and write a letter to Council by 10am Monday morning. These funds will be stored safely until the grant is successful, and then transferred to council for the project.
What if the grant application is unsuccessful: NVC will reapply in 6 months time, and these funds will be secure and earmarked for this purpose only.
Where is the Skatepark being built: Across the road from the Supermarket, outside of the caravan park entrance. This is a community decision that council engaged in 2023. See attached images for exact location.
How do we know what amount is needed? Council paid for a design concept and feasibility study in 2023. 500-600K was the recommended amount by Convic (https://convic.com)
Do the youth of our community get a say in the design process?
YES. When a succesful grant is gained, 3-6 months later the consultation process will take place. Youth and community will be engaged to best understand what needs they have, and how they envisage using the facility.
