Help us bring our brother home

My name is Tiffany, and I’m reaching out with a hopeful heart. My brother, David Juarez, has been in the Philippines since 2017. After leaving home at 18 in search of a relationship with our biological parents, David’s life took a difficult turn. He managed to change his last name, get a passport, and leave the country — but soon after, he ran into legal trouble that led to time in jail, and eventually, placement in a mental health facility.

David was diagnosed with “mild intellectual disabilities” and has spent the last eight years in that facility. During this time, the only contact he’s had has been a single visit from a friend and limited communication with a representative from the U.S. Embassy. He has been isolated, away from family, and unable to come home.

Now, after years of waiting, David is finally set to be released, this month - pending his deportation papers. The next step is bringing him back to the United States, where he can reunite with family and get the care and stability he needs. Unfortunately, the cost of his return is more than we can handle alone.

David will need two escorts to fly back to the States safely — one of them a doctor who can administer his medications throughout the journey. The total cost for this is $2,000. On top of that, once David is home, he’ll need basic essentials like clothes, shoes, and hygiene products. That’s why we're hoping to raise $2,600 in total.
