Hi. My name is Caryn and I'm raising money for Katrina. She's 59 years old, her abusive husband died three years ago. I suggested social security from him, but she doesn't have a birth certificate for him and although he always said he was born in California, the State has no record of him under the only name she has for him.

She lives in a manufactured home in south Phoenix that her father purchased for her before he died. Dad made the brother promise to "take care of your sister" but the brother persuaded dad to move his money from a bank to an investment firm and when Dad did that, Brother's name was added to the account. When Dad died a year or so ago, Brother took the money and has paid Katrina nothing.

She's currently two years behind on property taxes...she thinks they are $800/year. The total due is $1900 for 2021 taxes. 2022 are only partially due at this point.

The HVAC on her home is out, done, dead! I paid an HVAC contractor to go look at it in the hopes it could be repaired. Nope! It's done. She's currently living in one room of the house with the dogs she has rescued using portable AC units. I have one estimate at $11,000 for the AC system and another at $8300.

She lives on $500/month that she receives from a roommate. She was driving for Lyft but her car needs tires and struts in order to go back to driving. She worked a beer garden event a weekend ago to earn some cash. Her past jobs were cleaning houses.

She's called every private/public assistance group and applied. But the waitlists are at least a year long. That means she'd go all summer with portable AC units.

She does get $25/month from her electric company toward her bill.

Her connection to dog rescue is by helping people find new homes for dogs when they need to ReHome.

She's been very resourceful in trying to make her own way, get assistance and isn't just sitting around on her couch.

I feel drawn to help this gal. She's been heavy on my heart since the minute I learned of her situation. It's getting hot here. The County could foreclose on her for back taxes. Ugh!

The hopelessness she DOES NOT feel is incredible. She trusts that God has a plan.
