Hello everyone,
We are the Hustenowich family — a family of three doing our best to stay strong through an unexpected and life-changing moment. Many of you know our son, Riley. He is autistic and has special needs, and my husband, Peter, is his full-time caregiver at home. I am the only income for our household, and I recently celebrated 24 years at my job.
On Saturday, November 29th, our lives changed in an instant. I was involved in a severe motor vehicle accident — so severe that I don’t remember the impact or the moments that followed. What I do know is that God placed a hedge of protection around me that day, because when you see the car, you understand that I shouldn’t have survived.
The entire front end of my vehicle was destroyed — metal twisted, the engine crushed, airbags deployed, and debris scattered across the road. Looking at that wreck, I can only thank God for sparing my life. Even though I walked away injured, He held me in His hands.
The accident left me with:
• A broken foot
• Broken fingers
• A severe concussion
• Multiple cuts, bruises, and heavy trauma
• Several upcoming surgeries and months of healing ahead
Because of these injuries, I am unable to work for the foreseeable future. With me being our only income, this has placed a tremendous financial burden on our family. There is a waiting period before any medical or disability paperwork begins to help, and in the meantime the bills continue to rise — medical visits, hospital costs, therapy, medications, insurance, transportation, and our daily necessities. On top of that, Riley has regular doctor visits and care needs that cannot be postponed.
This is not easy for us to ask… but during this difficult and unexpected season, we are humbly reaching out for support. Any help, no matter the amount, will go toward:
• Medical bills
• Household and living expenses
• Prescriptions & follow-up care
• Temporary loss of income
• Transportation & replacement of our vehicle
• Riley’s ongoing special-needs care
We are trusting God through this. His grace protected me during the wreck, and we believe He will guide us through the road ahead. Your prayers, kindness, and support mean more than we could ever express.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for surrounding our family with love during this painful transition into a new normal.
With love,
Jennifer, Peter & Riley
