Hurricane Michael devastated the Florida panhandle. The beloved communities affected by the storm are a part of our family – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Beach Properties of Florida (BPFLA) serves these communities and many of us call it home. With offices in Bay County, Port St. Joe and St. George Island, we have direct access to the affected communities and will aid in both the short- and long-term recovery efforts of these areas.
The agents, employees and leadership team of Beach Properties of Florida have been working tirelessly in the affected communities - from the coastal towns of Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe to inland areas that saw the wrath of a Category 4 storm like Wewahitchka and Marianna. Our team continues to give to our friends and neighbors by preparing and delivering food, tarping roofs, clearing yards and driveways and even aiding in the heartbreaking task of clearing out contents of homes that could not be salvaged.
So many have reached out asking how to help – and we thank you. The best way to help is through monetary donations. We are working directly with 2 local non-profit agencies that provide supplies and services to affected communities across the Gulf Coast on a daily basis. These two charitable organizations are volunteer-led, so your money goes directly towards the needs of the affected towns they service. Organized service days are held every day of the week and volunteers - that include BPFLA agents and staff - assist with each communities' needs (repair, nourishment, medical, etc.).
Your donations are going into the hands of those who need it most. With initial needs such as water, prepared foods and personal goods now being met, we're seeing needs change. Your contributions allow us to keep up with demand so that we can help repair roofs, provide generators to those without electricity, clear yards so people can access their property, their surrounding roads and get back into their homes to assess the damage. Your donations provide tarps to those with no roof, food for those with no access to refrigeration (or a store), remediation and will extend to help with short-term housing assistance, long-term housing solutions.
This devastation is real, but so is our commitment to help. Thank you for your commitment to helping the Gulf Coast.
