Hurricane Melissa Barrel Appeal

Background:
Since 2020, my followers, trusted me with 31k of public money, to provide a safe Jamaican space in London.
This has translated into 5 years worth of multiple social returns, into projects across London, for the disadvantaged.

Following Hurricane Melissa,  coordinatinon for humanitarian aid towards the Caribbean, supporting National Caribbean efforts by the ODEM, needs support. The PSOJ (private sector organisation of Jamaica) is seeking support publically.

simply: We need to support Caribbean shelters and government resources - with a focus on children and education.

WHAT IS THIS FUNDs GOAL:
This fund has been organised by Tarell McIntosh AIH and the UK based organisation Paradise cove Battersea - to directly support Jamaican national relief efforts - which are already recognised as not enough - asking for further support.

We seek as much support as possible.

The aggregated goal, is to send barrels of ‘soft support’ items to the Caribbean for immediate relief, following Hurricane Melissa, supporting British and Jamaican national agenda.

The aim is to support Caribbean nationals abroad, at national shelters – bolstering limited government support at the ground.

WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT HURRICNE MELISSA:
As of 31st October 2025, Hurricane melissa has impacted the entire Caribbean.

From October 25 to 27, it rapidly intensified into a Category 5 hurricane before making landfall in Jamaica, at its peak intensity on October 28.

All 13 Parish’s of Jamaica are now affected, with some areas destroyed. The Jamaicans are resilient but we can do more.

Melissa emerged from the north coast of Jamaica later that day, and made landfall near Cuba.
Melissa then weakened into a Category 1 hurricane, approached Bermuda as a Category 2 hurricane. Then again weakened before becoming a hurricane-force on October 31 northeast of Bermuda.

As of this day, 31st October 2025, at least 56 deaths have been attributed to Melissa. This is including 30 from flooding and landslides in Haiti and 30 in Jamaica.

The first damage, is estimated to be at over 8,000,000,000 GBP (8 Billion)

CONSIDERED CONCERNS I and II:
I) GROWING GLOBAL CONCERNS:
There have been exceptional global concerns, relating to co2 and environmental matters, but the most important call to action is that of a humanitarian nature.
An entire population of 3 million is in need of economical resources and the high commission and government are seeking contributions to support the recovery of hurricane melissa.

II) UNITED NATIONS HUMAN CONCERNS:

Article 25 of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a milestone document in the history of human rights, STATES:

1. Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

2. Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.

COLLENIAL GOVERNMENT AID IS NOT ENOUGH:
The Caribbean Islands, has been seeking repatriable justice. Today the increase in aid from 2.5million, by 5 million, will not be sufficient for the level of humanitarian aid needed to ensure shelter for the most effected inhabitants. It equates to less then £1.50 pp. for help and aid.

With an estimated cost of 50 billion needed for Economic aid and resources, This campaign aims to contribute to the global movement, following the successful community Campaigns’ in 2023/2025.
