I'm G Bernard, and I am raising funds to support the Friendship Hanover community in Jamaica, my home, my roots, and the place where my grandparents and many others are now facing unimaginable hardship in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
The storm caused devastating destruction: roofs were torn from homes, families were left without electricity and running water, and many now have limited or no access to food. The farming community, the heart and livelihood of Friendship Hanover, was also hit hard. Crops were wiped out, leaving families without both sustenance and income.
This is the community that raised me. Every value I hold—integrity, resilience, hard work, generosity—was shaped by the people of Friendship Hanover. Though resources have always been limited, the strength of this community has never wavered. Neighbors take care of neighbors, even when they themselves have little. That spirit is what makes Friendship Hanover extraordinary.
Funds raised will directly support rebuilding efforts, provide access to essential needs, and help local farmers restart their livelihoods through tropical heirloom seeds, fertilizer, and farming tools. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to helping families rebuild their homes, restore stability, and reclaim their independence.
Friendship Hanover holds a profound place in my heart, and I'm asking for your help in standing with this resilient, hardworking community as they recover from this disaster. Your support will make a real and lasting difference.
