My name is Laur-Ann Daley, and together with my sister Toni-Ann, we are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of our family in Westmoreland, Jamaica who have been gravely affected by Hurricane Melissa. The storm has left widespread devastation and has severely damaged both our family home and our father’s business - the livelihood he spent decades building from the ground up.

Our father has been a businessman and entrepreneur all his life; the kind of man who believes in hard work, integrity, and community. Over the years, he’s faced more than his share of hardships, and each time, with resilience and perseverance, he’s rebuilt. Unfortunately, the impact of Mellissa has taken a toll on him.

• In 2005, a fire destroyed his family home to which the little grocery mart he bought from his grandfather was attached. Despite limited resources and the lasting emotional scars, he managed to rebuild a portion of it and kept the business alive.

• In 2007, while still in the midst of recovery, he was robbed at gunpoint. Even then, he found the strength to continue.

• In 2016, another robbery caused major set back, but he pressed on.

• In 2021, he faced yet another robbery, this time taking nearly everything, and still, he rebuilt.

Now, 20 years after that first fire, Hurricane Melissa has once again left our family reeling. The storm caused extensive damage to both his business and our family home making this chapter one of the hardest yet.

Despite all he’s endured, the thought of rebuilding once more now seems unfathomable. But with your help, we hope to give him the support to rebuild.
