Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on October 28th as a catastrophic Category 5 storm. This is the strongest storm ever to directly hit the island nation, and one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record. Communities in Jamaica, Haiti, and across the region experienced record-breaking rainfall, catastrophic flooding, and 180 mph winds. Damage to critical infrastructure has left many families stranded without access to food, clean water, power, and medicine. The storm’s impact will be felt for years, and many already vulnerable families urgently need relief and support.
CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is on the ground in Jamaica and Haiti — delivering water, food, tarps, and generators, and clearing roads of debris and mud to reopen critical access to communities previously cut off by the storm.
Your Support Helps Deliver Critical Relief:
✅ Essential relief items like hygiene kits, clean water, food, generators, and tarps
✅ Cash assistance for families to meet urgent needs like food, transportation, and medicine
✅ Debris-removal assistance
How You Can Help: Double Your Impact
CORE is celebrating 15 years of impact in Haiti. To mark this milestone and respond to Hurricane Melissa, CORE’s Board of Directors has created a 15th Anniversary Match Fund, doubling every donation up to $200,000. Your gift will be matched 1:1, helping families recover, rebuild, and restore livelihoods across Haiti and Jamaica.
