Hello everyone.
Growing up in Louisiana, we have been through a multitude of hurricanes. We know what to expect, but when you get to the magnitude of a storm like Hurricane Ida that sat over Louisiana for hours it leaves catastrophic damage similar to being in the heart of a powerful tornado with no mercy. I relocated to the Boston area several years back and with my family so far away going through this it is horrible to feel so helpless knowing what they are waking up to, but it reminds me of why I love my home state so much as we all pull together even from afar to help put our hometowns back together.
It is still early on and we do not have a total picture of what is needed specifically, but what I know for sure is it is guaranteed that they will need food, water, bare essentials, supplies, building materials and funds to be able to rebuild their homes and their lives as many will have a total loss. They will also need hands. Lots and lots of them. Can you imagine even going a week without power? Months without your home. Flooding, devastation and too much to even know where to begin?
I have received many messages asking how you can help and this is the best way other than if you want to go down and help with cleanup which is likely the most valuable.
I have set a goal of $10,000 which will not even begin to cover what will be needed but it’s a start.
All funds will be tracked and distribution accounted for as funds are distributed through the Go Fund Me beneficiary distribution tracking here so that you can see your personal impact in giving your support.
We will be driving down supplies and would love to know if you want to volunteer to help with cleanup. With this type of storm you can literally pick a street and there will be numerous people who need your help who will probably be too overwhelmed to even know where to start. If you want to do something meaningful be a part of the actual cleanup if you can. It will be life changing.
Prayers going out to my friends and family. We are here for you and your community and the wonderful state that I call home.❤️
