Hurricane Ida Lower Bayou Lafourche Relief

Hello: My name is Chad Johnfroe, currently living in Cartersville GA, I am a native of Galliano, Louisiana.

 

On August 29, 2021, one of the most devastating hurricanes to strike the US mainland, striking the area with winds in excess of 175mph, with some readings showing over 200mph. The strongest part of the storm hit directly over lower bayou Lafourche where my hometown of Galliano is located, as are my family and friends. These personal pictures and video were taken September 11, 2021 and do not begin to show the devastation that the people of the bayou communities are facing. The clean up will take months and the recovery years. It is estimated that over 70% of the homes and structures of the lower Lafourche area were severely damaged or destroyed. Many families are now homeless, some living in tents, and trying to recover what they can of their lives. Along with their homes, many families also find their livelihood and sources of income gone due to so many business and the fishing boats destroyed during. All monies raised through this Gofund Me will go directly to First Baptist Church of Golden Meadow , a known and trusted source that is truly helping all families of the bayou by providing generators, food, cleaning supplies, clothing and much more to the families in such desperate need.
