Hurricane Helene Relief for Old Fort, North Carolina
Donation protected
The people of Old Fort are the kindest and most down-to-earth people I’ve ever known. No matter who you are or where you’re from, if you’ve been to Old Fort, you are family. They will welcome you and feed you (whether you’re hungry or not). They are the kind of people who will help others before asking for help. So, I am asking for them. Begging for them.
This is not a unique story. We know there are many towns in need right now, and many of you have already given to other relief efforts. Thank you. It is so needed and appreciated. However, this town is tiny and often forgotten. We cannot allow that to happen this time. Old Fort is home to only 800 people and many of them were struggling before this disaster. The average income here is $42,000. They are strong and resilient, but they cannot do this alone.
The devastation here is immense. Homes that have stood for generations are now piles of rubble. Families have lost everything—cherished memories, essential belongings, and their sense of security. Roads are impassable, cutting off access to vital supplies and emergency services. People are stranded, without power, clean water, or a way to reach out for help. The floodwaters have washed away not just physical structures, but their HOME.
Despite these overwhelming hardships, the spirit of Old Fort shines brightly. I’ve seen countless people walk away from their own destroyed homes and properties and immediately get to work helping others. This is the kind of community we have—strong, resilient, and always ready to lend a hand. But this time it’s more than they can take on by themselves. They need help and lots of it.
There are many ways to give and help around the county, but I wanted a way to ensure funds were given directly to the people of Old Fort. This is my hometown. My family. I am asking that today, you make them your family too.
Your support can make a difference. Let’s ensure that Old Fort is not forgotten and can rebuild stronger than ever.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness and generosity mean the world.
