My name is Jim Keady. I have done humanitarian/advocacy work for two decades both in the United States and internationally.
Ever since the outpouring of support that the people of the Jersey Shore (my home) received during Hurricane Sandy, I have done my best to help when natural disasters strike other states/countries. Right now, the people of the Bahamas need that help.
I have established working partnerships with Puerto Rico Relief flight, LuminAID, and local aid groups for my upcoming trip.
Puerto Rico Relief Flight is now running BlackHawk helicopter flights 4-5 times a day to the islands bringing much needed aid.
LuminAID has committed to giving up solar lamps/phone chargers at near cost. To give one family the gift of light will cost $23.
Learn more about the LuminAID in this video.
A staging headquarters has been established in Lake Park, Florida. We already have a warehouse and forklift donated and are developing our list of needed supplies.
Along with the LuminAID solar lamps, your donations will be used to purchase food, water, tarps, chain saws, sledgehammers, etc. As things shake out in the coming days the list of needed supplies will change. I will be sure to keep you updated on what is happening as things unfold. Your donations will also be used to cover transportation to the staging site and any associated transportation costs (ex. jet fuel) to the islands.
Having done direct recovery/aid work here in my home state of NJ following Sandy and on Puerto Rico following Maria, I know how important this kind of support is for people who have lost everything. Your donations will make a difference and I will be sure to maximize your contribution to ensure that it helps as many people as possible.
