For generations, my family has been impacted by the devastating effects of Huntington's Disease (HD), an inherited neurodegenerative condition that has altered our lives in ways words can barely describe. The reality of this disease is not just a part of our past, but continues to haunt us today, affecting my Uncle, my Cousin, and their family.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for HD, and awareness around the disease remains limited. Yet, the daily struggles it presents—physically, mentally, and emotionally—are profound and life-changing for those living with it and their loved ones.

It's this personal reality that has motivated Abi and I to take action. On 5th September 2025, we’ll be pushing ourselves to complete a 26-mile endurance challenge through the rugged terrain of the Peak District as part of the Peak Pursuit Challenge (https://publicsectorchallenge.co.uk/peak-pursuit)

Our goal is two-fold:

Supporting the Cause: Part of the funds raised will be donated to the HD charity, helping to fund essential research and raise awareness about a disease that needs more attention.

Creating Meaningful Moments: My cousin, who is bravely facing the challenges of HD, deserves to experience some joy while she still has the physical ability to do so. We are raising funds to give her the opportunity to enjoy a spa break with her Mum—time for the two of them to create cherished memories together, away from the daily hardships that HD brings.
