Hunger Relief: Guatemala

Donation protected
Times of crisis show us the value of what we have and how important it is to help each other. Living in Guatemala has granted me the opportunity to witness the devastating effect that this global pandemic has had first hand. The majority of people here survive on a day to day basis. Meaning the money used to buy dinner is usually made that very same day. Quarantine restrictions are forcing people to stay home, resulting in starvation and hunger becoming much bigger problems than ever before. The supply chain from farmers to markets has been cut, leaving farmers with four or five months worth of work going completely to waste. Wood cutters/collectors find themselves walking several extra hours each day with over 100 pounds of wood on their back due to limited public transportation. Weavers and beadworkers are out of business because exportation has been brought to a halt. Tourism is dead. The list goes on and on. Every industry the average person used to survive has been severely impacted, leaving the world´s most vulnerable on the verge of collapse.

PAST EXPERIENCE: During the last four years and through the generosity of an American who helped raise funds, I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to organize the distribution of food, shoes, medicine, seeds, and toys to the very poorest of our community. This experience has allowed me to learn the most effective way to find those who are in the most desperate conditions and provide relief to families who find themselves struggling to survive. To give you an idea of the kind of help that can be expected from your support, a $40 bag of food can feed a family of four for a week.

GOAL: To locate families that are in the most desperate conditions and provide them with temporary relief and aid in order to help them survive this global crisis. Your aid can make its way directly to the hands of the people that need it most. Whether its food for families that are unable to feed themselves, medicine for kids, school supplies, shoes for children that walk around barefoot, food for stray dogs and cats that are starving, or fixing leaks that flood the humblest of homes. I will orient aid towards the needs expressed by donors and will document the impact of the people you help. People who will forever be grateful.
