Humåtak Holiday Concert By The Bay

Donation protected
Nestled between mountains and the sea lies Humåtak, one of the
southernmost villages of the island of Guam. This village is home to the
Chamorros, the indigenous people of the island, whose ancestors have fished
in these waters and farmed on these lands for over 3,000 years.
It was here in Humåtak where Ferdinand Magellan, the famous Portuguese
sailor, made first landfall in the Pacific in 1521, where explorer Miguel Lopez
de Legazpi claimed the island of Guam for Spain, where Fr. Andre de Urdaneta
held the first Catholic Mass in the Pacific, and where the principal port of
Guam would be, connecting Spain, the Philippines, and the Americas. Today,
the village of Humåtak stands as a living symbol of the island’s history,
representing its time as a former Spanish colony and current United States
territory in its structure and architecture.
On Sunday, December 22, 2024, the residents of Humåtak will be hosting the
very first “Humåtak Holiday Concert by the Bay.” Come down to the bay for an
acoustic evening with Eric Rachmany of Rebelution, Kaleo Wassman of Pepper,
and Jason Devore of Authority Zero. Joining them on the stage that night will
be friends Kyle Ahern, Eric Hirschhorn, and Zach Meyerowitz of Rebelution.
They will be welcomed by performances from some of Guam’s best local
bands. As the concert is underway, attendees are encouraged to roam around
the venue to watch local artists paint live pieces and grab a bite from food
trucks offering a variety of island specialties.
Admission to this event is 100% free as Eric Rachmany and friends are donating
their performances as a gift to the people of Guam. The effort itself to make
this event possible is supported by the diligent work and donations from the

friends and residents of Humåtak village, from corporate sponsors to logistic
teams.
Instead of paying a concert ticket to experience an event like this, the Humåtak
Mayor's Office and Humåtak Municipal Planning Committee are asking
everyone’s help in donating whatever they can towards a fund to support the
historic F.Q. Sanchez School community’s programs and projects. Be a part of
this concerted effort and donate to a cause that fosters heritage preservation
and community engagement.
