Humanitarian Aid for Asylum Seekers

Hi! We are Elissa McLean and Andy Winter. This December we found ourselves working to provide humanitarian aid for Asylum Seekers who are crossing the US/Mexico border. We were there with water, food, blankets, first aid, phone charging, and access to wifi so that people could make contact with their families after a long and dangerous journey to the US. All of the supplies we purchased came out of our own pocket. We are heading back to Arizona and we would love your help!

The folks arriving at the border are primarily families with small children fleeing violence in their home countries. They are coming from Mexico, Central America, South America, Africa, and Asia.

There are no facilities at the place they arrive at the border wall in Arizona and many have not had food or water. They sometimes have to wait overnight before Border Patrol can pick them up and begin the asylum process.

We were deeply moved by our time on the border and are excited to be returning in the next couple of weeks.

Your support will help us cover all the supplies we purchase for asylum seekers (food, water, blankets, clothing, first aid supplies, small gifts for children) as well as the fee for satellite internet and the gas to drive west and return home again at the end of April.

You will also be helping us purchase equipment to record interviews with asylum seekers. Our intention is to launch a podcast with the interviews to help humanize these "people on the move".

With your support we will be able to offer aid to the asylum seekers we encounter as well as create materials to inspire empathy and awareness beyond the border.
