- Hull's new independent paper CHUTE is hitting the streets! We're educating, informing and inspiring each other in these trying times. We're taking the fight to mainstream media, and choosing to build bridges rather than tear people apart.
- Cooperation Sheffield has launched! One step closer to our vision of assemblies in all the major cities of the North, providing a real alternative to the politics of today.
- In 2025 we ran an ongoing assembly process in a single neighbourhood. After holding assemblies all around the city in our first year, we wanted to figure out how to launch practical outcomes from assemblies and use them to build stronger communities. We started 2 food co-operatives and 1 savings club and...
- We helped launch Power Hull, a group on a mission to put solar panels up around the city - challenging big energy companies, taking control of our energy supply, switching off dirty fuels and making our communities stronger and less vulnerable to shocks like wars or floods
- We're still building towards launching the first citywide Hull People's Assembly; but only when we have enough trust and enough people and local businesses on board to make it a success.

A People's Assembly is basically a public meeting, that brings together people from our city – our teachers, shopkeepers, doctors, friends and family members – to come up with our own solutions to the problems facing our community, and work alongside local organisations to carry them out.
It's a tried and tested tool used from Brazil to Barcelona to Mississippi, and right now people all around the world are realising one thing: they work.
Hull is at the cutting edge of this new form of democracy, fit for the 21st century.
BECAUSE SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE
Real democracy means people like us having a say in the decisions that affect our lives.
But today - when regular people are dealing with the effects of the cost of living crisis, lack of housing and healthcare, and the climate crisis - the country is being run by bankers and career politicians.
---> We can no longer afford to wait for Westminster to do right by us.
---> Our communities have skills, knowledge & experience that can be put to use.
---> We need to reclaim decision making power for ourselves.

We are a group of volunteers determined to make this work. But we need your help.
TOGETHER, WE CAN DO THIS
We don’t have all the answers. What we have is a vision for how things could be different, a plan that we want to work with you on, and the commitment to really go for it.
Our problems are not just local, but regional, national and even global. We believe this idea, once practised here in the wonderful city of Hull, could be picked up and replicated throughout the British Isles.
