My name is Connie Kortz, owner of My Fabric Friends Quilt Shop in Victoria, Texas, and founder of HUGS from Texas — "Helping U Get Stronger" a volunteer network of quilters from around the globe.

(HUGS became a non-profit 501C3 in September of 2025)

Currently we are needed in North Texas. We will make our first trip on May 4th to take 138 quilts to First Baptist Church in Bridgeport, Texas and 5 quilts to another family that has lost everything.

If you know of anyone affected by this disasters please reach out. Together we can get them quilts.

Once back from North Texas we will start our next quilt block drive. Tune in to our YouTube channel, "Quarter Inch of Magic" for more details later in the week.

We will be releasing information after July 4th about our "Hugs for Heros" campaign, stay tuned.

Our Mystic Stong Campaign will be coming to a close after we distribute the over 400 Poppy Quilts we have been making since the Texas Hill Country Flood of July 4th, 2025. If we need more than 400 quilts we will get names and continue our dedication to this drive.

During 2025 - we donated over 500 quilts to the Texas Hill Country.

We have also donated quilts to those recovering from fire disasters in other parts of the country. We have given quilts to other organizations to use as fundraisers for rebuilding their community. We have given quilts to homeless shelters during their time of need. We have also wrapped those facing cancer with a HUG.

In October and November of 2024, our group delivered 476 quilts to North Carolina to bring warmth and comfort to families affected by Hurricane Helene.

We currently have about 700 general quilts that are not finished. They still need backing, batting, and binding.
