Hey Everybody,
I am Taylor, the blessed mother of such a fantastic kid. Here is a little back story for those who haven't had the pleasure of meeting little Hudson. Hudson was born with an arachnoid cyst in his brain and spent 16 days in the NICU because his body could not regulate his temperature or keep his blood sugar in a normal range. We finally could pinpoint why he wasn't getting any better once he was diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus, Adrenal Insufficiency, and Hypothyroidism. We continued to monitor the cyst within his brain, but it was growing too fast. At almost 5 months old, Hudson had an emergency craniotomy because the cyst was pushing up against his optic nerve. The surgery to remove the cyst was successful, but the cyst caused Hudson to go blind. Even though Hudson went blind at 5 months old, he has been the happiest child in the world. He lights up every room he enters. Hudson also shows how much determination he has at such a young age. No matter the obstacle, he keeps a smile on his face and stays happy. We have always been told he has no eyesight and nothing can be done about it. Hudson works hard every day to be able to walk better. His medical history shows he has a mild form of cerebral palsy that can be overcome with work. He continues to work towards his milestone goals.
In March 2021, Hudson ended up in the hospital with Meningitis. I watched him leave me right before my eyes. Thankfully, God had other plans for him, and he continued to fight hard. Finally, after a hard battle, Hudson overcame the illness and went home. We started noticing odd gestures after the hospital visit, so I took him to see his neuro-ophthalmologist again. His Doctor had no explanation, but somehow Hudson had some vision back. Once we discovered Hudson had some vision, a treatment facility in Berlin accepted him as a patient for vision restoration treatment.
This treatment facility in Berlin can allow Hudson to better his vision and have a better quality of life than he currently has. With his acceptance into the treatment facility, we now face the challenge of raising the money. For us to go to Berlin and have this treatment for Hudson, we need to have all parts of the journey paid for, including treatment, flights, the 2 weeks stay, food since Hudson has a restricted diet, and possibly a rental car. I am trying to find a place to rent close to the facility so we can be within walking distance. With Hudson’s gastrointestinal problems, he is on a restricting diet plan. He has fructose malabsorption, where his body does not break down the fructose as it needs to, leaving his stomach in disarray. He has other gastro issues that lead to his stomach pain and diarrhea, so I make sure the diet is followed closely for him.
We feel this procedure can help Hudson succeed in many of his milestones if we can get him to the facility. He inspires me every single day to be the best person I can be, and now I want him to have the opportunity to be the best he can be. So please help in any way possible to make this dream a reality for Hudson. He’s such a ray of sunshine and touches the lives of everyone he comes in contact with, and this procedure could help him further down the road.
