Hudock's Hunt for Baby Bear

Hi! Our names are Eleni Duchaine and Ericka Smith and we are putting this fundraiser together on behalf of our good friends, Mike and Laura Hudock. Mike and Laura have been our good friends for years, but I think everyone says that about them. That's the kind of people they are - good friends with, and to, everyone.

 

Many of you have followed along with the Hudocks, for years, through their infertility journey in some capacity. Many have prayed for them, encouraged them, checked in on them and, during the tough times, extended a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or a brought a home-cooked meal to eat.

 

Through this long and painful process, many friends have started families of their own. Each of us, anxiously awaiting and praying for the Hudock’s turn to join us. We have both been deeply humbled by their continuous efforts to be involved in my and many other friends’ young families lives while waiting to start their own.

 

 

With each failed pregnancy test and loss of a baby, instead of retreating into seclusion or their own pain and longings, they’ve joyously celebrated the births and lives of their friend’s and family’s children. They’ve served their church, community and even all of Ohio as they helped direct and lead summer camp programs for families with children with disabilities, called Joni and Friends Camp.

 

 

After many years of trying to have a child of their own, the Lord has led them to adoption. As Christians, adoption was a natural choice, because God has adopted each of them into his family of believers. What an amazing family their future babe will be a part of and what amazing parents they'll have!!

 

However, adoption is quite costly. If medical expenses, lawyer, social worker and agency fees weren’t enough, they also must factor in travel costs for an unknown duration of time, to an unknown location, at a moments notice to pick up their precious baby. The cost of the whole adoption process is around $25,000.
