SAVE THE KITE FESTIVAL 
The Rockaway Chamber of Commerce is asking for your help! As you’re probably aware, the Rockaway City Council made and passed Resolution No. 16-646, stating that private groups would no longer be allowed to use the Ocean’s Edge Wayside during holidays. For the past 40 years the Chamber has sponsored the Kite Festival at the Wayside. After moving it the Memorial Day Weekend it has flourshed! Most of the money used to pay for the festival has come from vendors that sell their merchandise during the four-day event. Due to the late time frame and the fact that we’re still waiting on approval for a waiver from the city, we are unable to take venfor fees yet. Your donations are tax deductible, and you will recieve a THANK YOU letter for your contributions. We are an expempt nonprofit 501 (c) (6). If the community is kind enough to put us over the goal, those fund would be held and used for festivals.
This is where we’re asking for your help. We’re trying to raise $3888 to assist with costs for the Memorial Day Kite Festival. This will include the 8% that GoFundMe takes for setting up the account and every little bit helps! Please, let’s keep our kite festival going for future generations! Thank you for your support!
2/22/17-We had a phone call yesterday, with the promise of a donation that would pay for balance of the money needed for the kite festival. Please help us thank them in the Coast Community Facebook Group!
This generous couple would like to remain anonymous. They own a second home here, are part of our community, and love it like we do. She said-they believe, "rising waters, raise ships". The Rockaway Chamber would like to thank them and all of you for being so wonderful.
We know this will bring a new list of questions, most we don't yet have answers for. We would like to take a day and digest the wonderful news with you and look forward to the Kites!! We have been asked to leave this up so others may show their support.
