My name is Maya Fajardo, and I am a member of the Healing the Children - Neiva team. Exactly a month ago, my grandfather, Carlos Fajardo, passed away from COVID-19. My grandfather dedicated the last 28 years of his life to Healing the Children, helping to found the Neiva mission and watch over its continuation, bringing along my father Roberto Fajardo, and later my sister Eva and I. His heart belonged not only to the members of the team but to the children he strove to help by bringing together doctors from Colombia and abroad to operate on our patients. 
     Our team will be unable to travel to Neiva this year, and likely until November 2021. However, our work is not once-a-year, and our kids don't stop being our kids when the team leaves Neiva. Right now the most pressing issue in Neiva, like most of the world, is COVID-19. This is where our team, along with your help, comes in. 
     My grandfather believed that no child should be left behind, but also that no adult who needed care should be passed over. In his name, we are fundraising money to donate to Hospital Universitario Moncaleano-Perdomo so that they are able to purchase PPE, and other COVID-19 resources to improve treatment for all.  As a team with two other trip members, Clarissa Bowers and Juan Pablo Llievano, I am hoping to raise a minimum of $1000 for the cause. Any amount is appreciated, and frequent updates on the progress of the fundraiser will be given.

      Neiva, we haven't forgotten you. You all have touched all of our lives in a way we can never repay you for, and we will be back as soon as is safe for you and for us.
