It has been all over the news about how food pantries are getting hit hard during this pandemic. The Homer School district is doing a wonderful job providing meals for students during the week, but what about the weekends? I reached out to the local food pantries and all locations reported they are seeing a significant increase in the number of people utilizing their pantry. A big problem is that their normal food donation supply chain has been unable to offer the usual donations and their shelves are depleted.
I am asking that you join me and the HTA in donating to the food pantries to help support our families in need. Because of the virus, they would prefer to have monetary donations so that they control who is handling the food supply. This will also allow them to buy in bulk and be able to serve more clients. I have set up a gofundme account for this purpose . The donation will be evenly split between all of the local food pantries so that they can refill their shelves and continue to do the work they do. The HTA has already pledged $250 and my family has added $100 to the fund.
