Hi everyone, my name is Teaonna and i’m fundraising for my dad.

I recently moved into a new apartment with a spare room, and while I didn’t originally know what I’d do with the extra space, God placed something heavy on my heart: my dad.

I’m living by myself, and as much as I want to give my dad everything he needs to get started, I just can’t afford to furnish his room and provide all the essentials on my own. That’s why I’m reaching out for help — if I could do this alone, I wouldn’t be asking.

My father has battled addiction and homelessness for years, but he’s now in active recovery and doing well, according to his support workers. I’ve decided to open my home to him—to give him a real chance to heal, feel safe, and start fresh. He’ll be moving in within the next week or so.

Anyone who truly knows my dad knows the kind of man he is. He’s always been a hard worker. He provided for four kids, gave us his last when he had nothing left for himself, and showed up however he could. He was a protector, the life of the party, and the one who would help anyone who needed it.

Even when life broke him down—when trauma and pain from his own childhood caught up with him—he never stopped loving us. Even when we turned our backs, even when he couldn’t support us the way he used to, his love never changed. That kind of love deserves a second chance.

Addiction is more than what people think it is. It’s not a lack of effort or a moral failure—it’s pain, it’s trauma, it’s survival. And healing doesn’t happen overnight. But everyone deserves the opportunity to come back from it. I believe this is my dad’s time.

I’m raising funds to furnish the bedroom for him, get him some clothes from Value Village, and provide basic toiletries so he can begin this chapter with comfort and dignity. Anything helps—no donation is too small. Even gently used clothes or everyday items would mean the world.
