HPC Workforce Fundraiser for Minehead School Bus incident
Donation protected
Hinkley Point C Workforce Fundraiser for Minehead School Bus incident of 17th July 2025.
This fund will be administrated by Ewen Huffman (Lead Chaplain) and Angie Young (Wellbeing Manager) who will be accountable to Rob Jordan.
As this fundraiser grew out of the groundswell of feelings amongst our Mental Health First Aider Buddies on site- we would very much like this funding to go towards the trauma assessment and short, medium and long-term trauma care of those impacted by this event. It may well be that the local NHS is not able to cope with such an influx of need? Ewen is connecting with the school's Headteacher to see how this can best be achieved.
Careful decisions, administration and accountability will be necessary as we could be dealing with significant sums.
Wednesday 30th July update. Angie and Ewen have done all the checking and, with Rob Jordan’s approval, your generous gifts are going to be passed on to Somerset Community Foundation (SCF) who are one of the major movers strategising help in Minehead. They have started a Together For West Somerset specifically for this and our money will be in that, ringfenced for the mental health support of any impacted by the tragic incident of 17th July.
HPC have a long-term and ongoing relationship with SCF and this gives us great confidence of the proper use of all your/our money.
So- this GoFundMe account will close at the end of the day of Thurs 31st July and the money passed on asap to give help.
THANK YOU all you wonderful HPC people for your generosity!! There is talk of more money yet to come in, but we’ll ensure that is passed directly on to SCF and similarly ringfenced for our aims.
THANKS AGAIN!! Ewen and Angie on behalf of HPC’s Mental Health First Aider Buddies (who initiated all of this).
