Bank Street Christmas Lights – A Tradition of Giving
For over 20 years, the Crump family of Bank Street in Howlong has been lighting up the holiday season. What started as a small display of Christmas lights has grown into a spectacular event, bringing joy to thousands each year.
Fifteen years ago, the Crumps opened their display to the community, allowing visitors to walk through their magical wonderland of lights. Since then, they’ve embraced the spirit of giving, collecting donations for local organizations, such as the Howlong Cricket Club, Junior Athletics, and various community groups.
This year, all donations will go to the Howlong Rural Fire Brigade, supporting the essential work they do to keep our community safe.
The Crumps welcome guests with warm smiles, free candy canes (around 3,000 each year!), and plenty of opportunities to create cherished memories. A snow machine adds to the festive atmosphere, delighting children and adults alike. Visitors come from far and wide, including places as far as Holland, Japan, Melbourne, China, Wagga Wagga, Albury Wodonga, and, of course, the local area.
Joining the Crumps in spreading holiday cheer are their neighbors, Willy and the Harris family, who have added their own dazzling displays. Together, they’ve transformed Bank Street into a Christmas destination and proudly earned the title of Santa Street for 2023.
We invite you to visit the display, take in the magic, and if you’re able, make a donation to support our hardworking local firefighters. Donations can be made online or in person at the display.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the season and give back to the community that makes this tradition so special.
Merry Christmas from the Crumps and the Bank Street Christmas Lights Team!
