We are calling on our community to show up in solidarity with a beloved movement activist. Ashley Albert, a Peer Trainer and Support Specialist at Movement for Family Power, is currently unhoused.
Ashley recently reunited with her 13-year-old daughter after she was forcibly removed from her care, adopted, and later abandoned by her adoptive family. Their landlord then used her daughter’s return as an excuse to evict them, citing that she wasn’t on the lease—a move that was likely an attempt to push out tenants and raise the rent.
Forced to leave her apartment without her belongings—five years' worth of personal items—Ashley is now being unfairly charged $3,000 for leaving them behind. On top of the eviction, Ashley’s daughter was recently incarcerated in juvenile detention and desperately needs her mother’s support.
As a survivor of domestic violence and someone impacted by the family policing system both as a child and a parent, Ashley's lived experience uniquely positions her as an exceptional advocate for families. Her work at Movement for Family Power centers healing justice, political education, and relationship-building efforts among lived experts and movement leaders. Through her consulting agency, InTuned Consulting, she also leads a healing circle for parents who have had their parental rights terminated by the family policing system. Your support will allow Ashley to continue sharing the healing and strength she offers to so many.
Please contribute to provide immediate relief to Ashley and her daughter. Funds raised will be used to help Ashley secure stable housing and cover the legal fees and services necessary to reunify with her daughter, freeing her from the trauma of youth incarceration and accessing the resources they both need to heal.
