On July 16th, me and my kids went to birch bay state park for a picnic and met the loveliest family of 5. They were content, busy spending their own family time together on the beach, but something pulled me toward them instantly. We invited their kids to do some temporary tattoos with us. And eventually we got talking about what brought them here. He introduced himself (Chip) and his wife (Stacy) and explained that they moved all the way across the states in hope of a fresh start. They had already been struggling financially and living in some camps back east and he felt the call from God to move to the PNW, specifically to the water. They fell in love with the beach here. They’ve been living in their car and tenting every night at different campsites. I’ve helped them a little at first with some grocery money and he’s been working on getting some steady paying jobs. But now that Fall is right around the corner, I am worried that their family will struggle in the elements. My heart has been tugging to start a GoFund me and I feel that now the timing is right. My goal is to raise up to 5,000 so that I can purchase a travel trailer for them plus 6 months rent in an RV park. There is another family of 5 that has travelled here with them but the head of that family has already found a job, so first goal is to help Chip’s family then next maybe we can help the other family as well. I’m passionate about helping our unhoused community, and this family could really use the boost. I will personally handle the funds, purchase the camper, and haul it to an RV site in the area where they can be in the school district for their 3 kids. I’m looking for deals on FB marketplace for the travel trailer, I know there are a few options out there. Any leads on a number pull trailer for sale within a couple thousand would be much appreciated! Any extra amount aside from some space rent will go towards clothes for the kids.
