I am asking for help on behalf of a woman named Heather Sullivan (51yrs) and her husband, a Navy Vietnam War Veteran (76yrs) and their four small support dogs. They lived in North Hollywood, CA for many years until a fire took their apartment where they lost everything, and subsequently, were kicked out of a temporary apartment that was sold to someone who wanted all the tenants out on short notice. Being low income depending on social security disability and on a small veteran pension, they were unable to rent a place that they could afford. They are now on the streets and cannot even find a church that would let them sleep in the parking lot at night. Heather has been trying hard to get the VA to offer a “tiny home” to them but it is taking a long time and it will only allow two of their small dogs. Two others will need to be rehomed, but they are having trouble with that as well. These are their support animals as she is partially blind from cataracts and her anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Additionally, her husband is partially deaf, and Heather suffers from Type 2 Diabetes, heart issues, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, and neuropathy. Today, she suffered a fall due to her blindness and had to have the paramedics called.
In the past, Heather and her late mother started an organization to help the homeless, but now she has found herself to be in the situation. Please help Heather and her husband get back on their feet.
*Please do not be critical about the fundraiser amount set by me.
Heather has never asked for money and simply asked the community for a garage for shelter. I am just a neighbor trying to help them out. Any money raised will be going to Heather and her husband get off the streets.
