HELP build Room for Baby & Mother

Karen Salguero is 32 and lives in Metapan, El Salvador.  She comes from a very poor and humble family. She was born with a heart condition and has had many challenges growing up.  She now finds herself as a single mother trying to provide all the essentials for her baby. She also needs a heart operation within the next year. 

She was hospitalized for a high-risk pregnancy for 2 months and had an emergency c-section at 7 months.  Her baby arrived prematurely 8 weeks before and stayed in the NICU for over a month. Her little boy fought hard to catch up and is now healthy.

Today they are living in a small 12x16 feet, unfinished room, patched with metal sheets and old wood pieces.  In recent years, she was able to save enough money by selling snacks in her neighborhood to build part of the cement walls. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 and the recent tropical storms,  she has been unable to finish her modest room. 

Please consider donating, any amount will be greatly appreciated. Funds will be used for cement, drywall, paint, flooring, and other materials needed to finish her tiny house - consisting of a single room.  We will post any progress made to the room on this same page.  If the goal of $3,000 is surpassed, we will distribute the rest of the funds to other families in need and in similar situations in Metapan, El Salvador.

My name is Sidia Devy-Posada residing in Los Angeles. I was also born in Metapan, in the same neighborhood as Karen. I will ensure the funds get to their destination and serve its purpose.

Karen Salguero tiene 32 años y vive en Metapán, El Salvador.  Ella viene de una familia pobre e humilde. Karen nació con una condición medica del corazón y ha tenido muchos obstáculos en su vida. Ahora Karen es una Madre soltera tratando de proveer esenciales para su bebe bajo circumstances difíciles. En el proximo año tambien tiene que tener una operación del corazon.

Fue hospitalized con un embarazo de alto riesgo por 2 meses y tuvo una cesárea de emergencia a los 7 meses. Su bebe se adelanto y nació 8 semanas prematuro y se quedo en incubadora por más de un mes. El bebe ha luchado con valentía y se ha recuperado por completo. 

Hoy viven en un cuartito (12x16 pies) no terminado, parchado con metal y pedazos de madera vieja. En años recientes pudo ahorrar dinerito vendiendo galguras en su vecindario y pudo construir parte de las paredes. Debido a la pandemia de COVID-19 y las tormentas tropicales, ya no ha podido terminar su vivienda. 

Por favor considere hacer una donación, cualquier cifra será muy agradecida. Los fondos recaudados serán usados para cemento y otros materiales de construcción. Actualizaremos cualquier progreso que se haga en el cuarto en esta misma pagina. Si en caso sobrepasemos la meta, vamos a distribuir el resto a familias necesitadas en Metapán en situaciones similares.
