Housing for a refugee family

We are raising money to help provide housing for an immigrant family from Central Asia who recently arrived in Portland OR. Read more about them below.

 

This family has been given $1000/month for housing. The goal I've set here will provide them with an additional $1000 a month, which will help them find something affordable. Living in Portland is extremely expensive. (The additional $500 is to cover transfer fees!)

 

It's been a hard couple years for everyone, but we've learned that we need each other and must rely on each other. It is my firm belief that we can raise enough money to provide this family with a home and some security. Americans are kind, generous and hospitable. Let's show them that. If we all give a little, we can reach our goal easily. Thank you for your role in supporting this family.

Last week we had the great honor and privilege of welcoming a beautiful refugee family from an unstable country in central Asia. The father has served with the US military as a head security officer since early 2014.

 

This family is so full of joy and laughter! All eight of their kids are very uniquely joyful. The eight children (four boys and four girls) range from age 18, to only 8 months. They are eager to go to school and to learn English. I also have so much admiration for their strong mother, who has uprooted from the only country she’s known and is bravely choosing to raise all her kids in a new country and culture just to give them a chance and a future.

 

This family needs a HOME! But that is the big problem:

The US government has only allocated about $1000/month toward a place to live.

It is literally impossible to find even a meager one-bedroom for that amount of money here in Portland! Please help us help them!
