Housewarming for the Baxter's

Hey everyone! I'm Valerie and I'm raising funds for my sister and brother-in-law, Clarissa & Jabin Baxter.

If you have ever meet Clarissa and Jabin, I am sure you have been impacted by their love of people and genuine desire to teach and see others flourish. For most of their marriage, their schedules were packed with music, marching band and teaching.  Our societal norm that praises busyness just was not working for them anymore because they had no space to take care of their own needs.  The last few years, they made the wise and brave choice to slow down and take care of themselves for a change. They spent several years focusing on managing their mental health and newly discovered chronic illnesses.  Mental health is something that our society, including myself, is getting better at talking about, but still doesn't fully leave space to cope with. These two have fought so hard over the past 5 years to  work on their mental health all the while, holding on to the dream of saving up for a home in Lancaster City. 

For several years now, they've been working toward homeownership. Recently, they were able to purchase their first home!!! Buying a home in this housing market is a bit chaotic as everyone knows. Clarissa saw a house that felt like a good fit, scheduled a showing the following day and put an offer in shortly after. BAM! Just like that, their stop and start journey of being homeowners accelerated rapidly. 

 

Unfortunately, this new home needs a lot more love than they had anticipated. They are faced with needing some furnace and roof work completed ASAP. So much of their life story involves jumping over one hurdle after another; and often all alone.

 

So I am reaching out to all of their friends and family. Would you consider participating in our literal housewarming fundraiser for the Baxter's? Skip the candles and kitchen towels and give the gift that they really need. Any amount is appreciated. I know it will mean so much to them to have their community rally around them in their time of need. All the funds raised will go directly to the Baxter's for their furnace and roofing needs, as well as any other house projects. This home will be a labor of love, but they are excited to make the space their own.
