House Alajah and Mon!
Donation protected
Due to housing injustice, Alajah (23) and Mon (24) have been living in their car with their service dogs for the past 5 months of Alajah’s pregnancy and we need your help!
Just a few weeks ago, Alajah was forced to quit her job, following her doctor’s advice, since it was contributing to pre-term health concerns for her and their baby. With Mon being the only one working at this time, it's impossible to save up for housing and take care of other concerns like reliable transportation, access to healthy foods, temporary housing, pet care, etc.
Since experiencing houselessness, Alajah and Mon’s susceptibility to police surveillance has increased significantly. They have reached out to multiple assistance programs but haven't received support or won't be eligible until after their baby is born. To make matters worse, the state threatened to take away Alajah’s benefits like food stamps and WIC due to her disabilities.
Between navigating this broken system and preparing for the birth of their rainbow baby, they found a landlord in North Carolina that is willing to lease to them. Alajah and Mon’s biggest barrier to housing is coming up with the move-in costs (i.e. deposit, first and last month’s rent, utilities, etc), which are totaling about $3,250.
Alajah’s estimated due date is approaching on November 25!
Help us get Alajah and Mon housed before their sweet baby comes earthside by donating. Any donation helps. They, like all those impacted by the housing crisis, deserve a safe and secure place to call home.
If you are unable to give at this time, please share this post to show your support. In solidarity!
