Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I am asking for your help. On Friday, August 31, a fire at Hopkins destroyed one apartment and affected at least three other units. Four families, eleven people, have been displaced and are currently in hotel rooms while their apartments are being evaluated for safety and smoke damage.
Among those affected is Ms Abena Disroe, president of the Hopkins Resident Community. I know Ms Abena from my work at the ANC representative for 6B07. She's a dynamo - kind, energetic, and positive - and she's been working closely with the 11th Street Bridge Park to establish a community garden and develop programming to help the health and well being of her community.
Folks, Ms Abena just lost everything she owns. Any contribution helps.
