My name is Ela, and I run Hope Through Dance and Movement Psychotherapy CIC (Company No. 17169938), a registered Community Interest Company in England. Through this work, I support individuals who are rebuilding their lives after neurological injuries, trauma, or life‑changing events.

One of the people I currently work with is a patient whom I call ‘Soldier’ to protect his privacy. He survived a severe neurological injury that left him unable to move or communicate. When we first met, his body was still, his gaze unfocused, and his connection with the world fragile.

Through dance and movement psychotherapy, he is slowly beginning to return to himself. He is regaining small but meaningful movements — a clearer gaze, gentle head control, emerging limb activation — and moments of emotional connection with his family. Each of these steps is a victory. Each one requires time, repetition, and therapeutic presence.

His progress is real, but he needs additional sessions to maintain and strengthen these gains. His family is doing everything they can, but they are unable to fully fund the amount of therapy he requires at this stage of recovery.

This is why I am raising a small amount of money: to provide him with more sessions, more opportunities to move, more chances to reconnect with his loved ones, and more support on his long journey back to himself.
