Hi everyone, my name is John, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest times of my life. For the past year, I’ve been dealing with a serious neurological illness (foot drop, muscle atrophy, nerve damage) that doctors have now

compared to ALS. I’ve had multiple neurologists and specialists run tests, and while the diagnosis isn’t fully clear yet, my symptoms have been life-changing—muscle weakness, nerve pain, and loss of mobility that has made even daily tasks difficult.

Because of my condition, I’ve had to stop working in regards to safety for myself and co-workers. I was previously employed at Old Dominion Freight Line, and losing that stability has been devastating. On top of that, my health insurance is ending, which means I’ll soon be responsible for expensive treatments, tests, and everyday living costs completely on my own.

I’ve tried to fight through this quietly, but the truth is—I’m in dire straits. My savings are gone, my 401k is barely enough to survive on, and I’m still in the middle of long approval processes for disability benefits due to not having a clear diagnosis (autoimmune diseases are extremely hard to diagnose). The stress of not knowing how I’ll cover basic needs like rent, food, and medical expenses is overwhelming while I’m also trying to focus on my health.

This GoFundMe is my way of asking for help—something I never thought I’d have to do. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward keeping a roof over my head, covering medical costs, and giving me some breathing room as I continue treatments and fight for answers.
