Hello Everyone!
As we step into 2025, Union Church of Robinson Twp is proud to support Christ for the City International (CFCI) in transforming lives in La Carpio, Costa Rica. Home to over 40,000 people—including 20,000 children—La Carpio is the largest slum in Central America, facing devastating challenges such as poverty, limited education, and widespread abuse.
Our mission team, including 9 members from Union Church and 3 from Guatemala, is dedicated to bringing hope through impactful programs:
- Medical Care: Bringing medical supplies they may not have access to.
- Youth Outreach: Programs like New Horizons for boys and The Refuge for girls provide healing, sports, and fellowship.
- Education: The Institute offers schooling with meals for better focus.
- Vocational Training: Skills in baking, carpentry, sewing, and English create new opportunities.
- Community Care: Daycare, scholarships, and children’s ministries provide essential support.
This will be our second trip to La Carpio, and I can personally say it’s one of the most profoundly impactful experiences of my life. Families with no food or water, children roaming the streets without supervision, and constant danger surrounding them day and night—this is their daily reality. Despite living in unimaginable conditions, these incredible people carry bright smiles and find joy in the simplest things, like playing with a deflated soccer ball and sharing whatever resources they have to offer.
Together, we can shine hope into La Carpio through prayer, action, and support, paving the way for a future of dignity, opportunity, and faith!
Thank you to all!
