Dear Friends,
If you find yourself reading this, I truly hope you've never had to face the heart-wrenching grief that comes with the loss of a child. In Australia alone, 1,724 babies are stillborn each year, 700 pass away in the days or weeks after birth, and an estimated 103,688 pregnancies end in miscarriage. These statistics are more than just numbers—they represent the unimaginable pain endured by countless parents.
Last year, my partner and I personally faced this devastating reality with the loss of our second-trimester baby, lovingly named "Teddy." What struck us most was the outpouring of support from hundreds of parents who, like us, had suffered in silence, thinking they were alone in their grief.
As Teddy's due date approaches (February 17th), I am compelled to try make a difference—not just in his memory, but for all the heavenly babies and the parents who bear the weight of their loss.
After extensive research, I discovered that the mission of Sands Australia, a vital part of Red Nose Australia, aligns closely with my attempt to make an impact. Sands Australia stands as a pillar of support for parents grappling with the unfathomable loss of a child.
If, like me, you have been touched by the tragedy of losing a child or know someone who has, please take the time to donate whatever you can afford. Your contribution will enable organisations like Sands Australia to continue providing crucial support to parents navigating bereavement.
More about Sands Australia/Red Nose Limited: Red Nose is Australia's leading organisation dedicated to saving little lives and supporting families impacted by the devastating and unexpected death of their baby or child during pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood. Your support not only funds lifesaving research and education to prevent baby deaths but also sustains vital support services that help grieving families rebuild their lives after the devastating loss of their baby or child—from miscarriage and stillbirth to sudden infant death and other fatal causes.
Let us stand together in solidarity and compassion, offering solace to those who need it most.
With heartfelt thanks,
James
