My son, Liam Kruggel, was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 6. As any parent on an epilepsy journey with their child, the drugs wear off, and the side effects are real. Eight years of hospitalizations, tests, and surgeries... Here we are at our last chance to give him a normal life.

On January 19, 2026, he will undergo an open brain surgery where they will go into his hippocampus, at the center of his brain, and remove the affected area causing his epilepsy.

Liam has been through the tests. He has been hospitalized. He has come off of drugs classified as controlled substances, not by his choice, but they are the only ones strong enough to keep his seizures at bay.

This is his shot at being seizure-free. His chance at driving, sports, being what he has asked for for years... a chance to be normal.
