Hi,my name is Yeshi Choeden and I’m fundraising on behalf of the devastating flood that crashed in Kagbeni on August 13th.
Kagbeni is the place where I grew up and will always cherish its beauty.
Sadly, Kagbeni is facing the darkest of days.
I believe we all have the power to make a difference.
The horrendous flood brought by the Kag-Jhong river which crashed through Kagbeni village on the night of August 13th,completely swept 29 houses and caused severe damage to another 13 houses and the building of Jana Shanti Secondary School. The flood that hit the village during the night time at around 7 PM, completely destroyed the only motor-able bridge that connects Kagbeni to the Upper Mustang region. Similarly, the suspension bridge that connects Kagbeni to Tiri village was also completely washed away. Three other small wooden bridges, one short span concrete bridge, 9 sheds with almost 32 cattle got washed away in the same flood. The flood along with the incessant rain also swept the local police station, the ward office and the temple along with the pilgrimage house. It’s an immense infrastructural damages and the loss of property of the people of Kagbeni.

The structure of concrete bridge planted in the name of development also proved to be a time bomb for settlement. Nature destruction has its limits. Exploration and building unnatural structure was not a wise step in any way.
It’s shockingly painful.
We really hoped it to be bad dream but it wasn’t.
WE DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP!
Any small/big amount, food supplies, clothing will be highly appreciated.
We wouldn’t let our hope fade away and mourn to disaster.
We hope to unite stronger than before and begin our journey together.
The collected funds will be provided to the local organizer to fulfill immediate needs, establishing a safe drinking water facility, installing power cables, providing safety gears to the locals and volunteers, run a communal kitchen, install a temporary bridge for the safe mobility of the villagers and set up a volunteer help desk.
Thank you for joining efforts during this difficult time. Thank you for your support.
