Help James Beat Rare Cancer with a Bone Marrow Transplant

Donation protected
My cousin, James Elwood, was diagnosed in 2020 with cutaneous T-helper cell lymphoma. Since then, he’s been fighting bravely through treatments, medications, and constant doctor visits. But the cost of care has become overwhelming.

James has always tried to handle things on his own, but now he needs our help. Donations will go directly toward medical bills, treatments, and medications that insurance doesn’t fully cover. Whether you give financially, share this page, or keep James in your prayers, your support means the world.

James’s Story

Standing Together with James Elwood

From James:

This is hard for me to write…

I’ve always been the one who tried to work hard, take care of my family, and push through whatever life threw at me. I don’t like asking for help—it makes me feel exposed. But right now, I don’t have a choice.

I’m James (Jimmy) Elwood—a dad of two amazing kids on the autism spectrum, a husband to my rock Heather, and a veteran who proudly served six years in the Minnesota National Guard. In 2013, I fought and beat Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I thought that was the hardest battle of my life. But in 2020, I was diagnosed with Cutaneous T-Helper Cell Lymphoma. After years of treatments and ups and downs, my doctors have told me that my only chance at a cure is a bone marrow transplant.

This fall, I’ll begin intense chemo and radiation, followed by the transplant. Recovery means I’ll be out of work for at least 100 days—and my wife Heather will be out too, as my full-time caregiver. That means the bills, groceries, gas, and all the daily costs of life don’t stop, even though everything in our world is on pause.

And that’s why I’m humbly asking for your help.

Your donations will go directly toward keeping our family afloat during this time—helping cover medical costs, household bills, and the basics of daily life while I fight for my health and my future. Every single donation, whether it’s $10 or $100, makes a difference. Every share helps spread the word. Every prayer and word of encouragement keeps us going.

Community Benefit Event
We’re also hosting a fundraiser on October 18th at Blainbrook Bowl in Blaine, MN. There will be a silent auction, bake sale, merchandise, and more—all to support our family during this journey. If you’d like to donate items for the silent auction or bake sale, they can be dropped off at Blaine Citywide Lock & Safe by October 17th.

I’ve beaten cancer once before. With your love, prayers, and support, I believe I can do it again.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you for standing with me, Heather, and our kids during the hardest fight of our lives.

With love and gratitude,
Jimmy Elwood
