January 2026 has been filled with heart break in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Many families have experienced and witnessed family members being taken from their loved ones without notice by ICE. Wendy, and her two daughters in Minneapolis experienced the detention of their father and are trying to process their loss; to understand why their dad is not coming home, and when he may come home. The answers to these questions are hard to answer as they depend on so many complicated factors, one being the need for a lawyer.
Wendy’s family is working to stay strong and comprehend what is happening in their community, while sheltering in place. Prior to these horrible events of 2026, their family enjoyed playing and watching movies together, even after their dad worked a long day.
Our aim is to support Wendy and her family with the legal fees necessary to work with an immigration lawyer to carry their case forward to reunite the father with his family. The funds will go towards:
- Securing a retainer with a lawyer
- Ensuring the best case is filed with the court
- Communication between the father, the family, and the lawyer
