My name is Deborah Sciullo, Mom of Brett Sciullo. On the night of August 3rd, 2026, my granddaughter, Brett’s daughter, was in a horrible car accident where the vehicle collided with a tree. She was lifeflighted to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where doctors have been working tirelessly to make sure she is able to have a full recovery.

My granddaughter, as many have met her, is a little girl who will run, jump, and play nonstop. She is full of sass and fire. This accident, however, has left her without the use of her legs due to a spinal injury that ripped the nerve that controls her bowels and leg movement. A spinal fusion was done to help strengthen her spine and help it retain its form so that she would still be able to have a fraction of the life she was used to.

We are beyond crushed at these details, but we know how strong of a little girl she is. Brett has taken time away from work and other responsibilities while he is in the hospital caring for her, along with an army of people who have rallied around her.

There will be continuing medical bills, therapy costs, ramps, a chair, and whatever else is needed.

We are never in the habit of asking for a handout or something that we couldn’t do ourselves. But the days are continuing, and the process is looking to be something that will be a lifetime of continuing care and bills to make sure that she is able to get the care required after a full recovery is made.

My granddaughter is still heavily sedated and mostly unresponsive except to a familiar voice, which she offers a small head nod to. We know that Christ has a plan for everything and every situation that is placed in our path, and my granddaughter’s plan was placed before me and Brett.
